consider the years of experience, the number of weddings completed, and whether

you make your decision, put down a deposit to book your date and get a written
contract detailing services to be performed.
If possible, visit the studio of the photographer you are considering. Ask to
see a portfolio of wedding photos, and if possible, ask for references. Ask to
speak to the photographer that will actually be doing your wedding so that you
become comfortable with their personality and characteristics.
